Informed Consent and Agreement
The Conversation That Matters — $779
Keith Ivey | Journey Inward Outward
I want you to understand the nature of our work together, what you can expect, and the terms under which I provide this experience.
Please read this document carefully and ask any questions you may have before agreeing to participate.
Nature of Our Work
The Conversation That Matters is a private, unhurried conversation focused on something in your life that you would like to change.
There is no script or predetermined process. I listen, ask questions, and follow the conversation wherever your responses lead us.
You do not need to prepare, rehearse your story, or understand what is causing your experience.
You are always free to decline a question, keep a thought to yourself, request a break, or end the conversation.
I reserve two hours for our conversation. That does not mean we must use the entire time. We finish when the conversation feels complete.
Our work is informed by my training in conversational hypnotherapy and classical hypnosis although it does not ordinarily involve a formal hypnotic induction or classical hypnosis techniques.
Purpose of Our Conversation and What to Expect
The purpose of our conversation is to create an environment in which you can explore, perhaps for the first time, the deeper nature of something in your life that you would like to change - and discover a resolution that has previously seemed unavailable.
Much of what influences our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors operates outside our conscious awareness. We may recognize that something is wrong without understanding what is driving it or what needs to change.
Our conversation is an opportunity to become curious about what lies beneath the surface of your conscious awareness and allow it to lead you the change you desire in your life.
My role is not to tell you what your problem is or prescribe its solution. My role is to listen, ask questions – perhaps questions you have never considered before, and help create the conditions in which you may discover insights, possibilities, and resolutions that were not previously available to you.
Sometimes meaningful changes occur during our conversation. Sometimes they become apparent afterward. And sometimes the changes we hope for do not occur.
I cannot promise a particular outcome. What I can promise is my undivided attention, genuine curiosity, and commitment to creating an environment in which meaningful change becomes possible.
What Happens Afterward
Approximately three or four days after our initial conversation, you are responsible for calling me to talk about what, if anything, you have noticed since we were together.
During that call, we will explore what may have changed, what hasn't, and what may still be unfolding.
If we mutually determine that another conversation would be useful, we will arrange it at no additional charge.
There is no series of sessions you are required to complete.
If our work is finished and an entirely different issue arises later, that would constitute a new engagement.
Professional Scope
I am a conversational hypnotherapist, not a licensed physician, psychologist, psychotherapist, or mental-health professional.
Our conversations are not intended to diagnose or medically treat physical or psychiatric conditions and are not substitutes for medical care, psychotherapy, or other appropriate professional services.
If you are receiving medical or mental-health treatment, you should continue following the recommendations of your treating professionals.
If I believe your concerns require assistance outside the scope of my services, I may recommend that you consult an appropriate healthcare professional.
Emotional Experiences
Our conversations may involve personal memories, emotions, beliefs, or experiences. Occasionally, these may produce unexpected or uncomfortable feelings.
You remain in control of what you choose to share and may slow down, change direction, or stop at any time.
Privacy, Confidentiality and AI-Assisted Notes
What you share with me will be treated as private and confidential, except when disclosure is required or permitted by applicable law.
I do not intentionally create or retain audio or video recordings of our conversations. You are welcome to record our conversation on your own device if you wish.
With your consent, I use Zoom's AI-assisted note-taking capability to prepare written notes about our conversation. This allows me to give you my undivided attention rather than interrupting our conversation to take notes. It also helps me remember important details when we speak again.
Zoom's AI features may process audio or other meeting content to generate these notes. The notes are intended solely to support our work together and are not used by me for marketing or public sharing.
I will treat these notes as confidential and will not intentionally share them with others except as required or permitted by law.
Because I am not a licensed mental-health professional, our communications may not carry the same legal privilege that applies to certain licensed healthcare or mental-health professionals.
I will not publicly share your name, identifying information, personal story, or feedback without your separate permission.
Fee, Cancellation, and Refunds
The fee for The Conversation That Matters is $779, payable when you schedule your appointment.
The fee includes our initial extended conversation, the follow-up telephone call, and an additional conversation if we mutually determine one would be useful.
If you change your mind before our initial conversation begins, notify me via email and I will refund your session fee.
Once our initial conversation has begun, the fee is nonrefundable. You are paying for my professional time, attention, and commitment, not a guaranteed outcome.
If I must cancel and we cannot agree on another suitable appointment time, your fee will be refunded in full.
Feedback and Testimonials
I welcome honest feedback about your experience, including what was helpful, what was not, and what, if anything, changed.
You are not required to provide a public review, testimonial, or endorsement.
Nothing you share will be used publicly with your identity attached without your separate permission.
